A bright, shiny red apple brooch that looks good enough to eat!

Red marbled acrylic with green mirrored acrylic and engraved details. Made with a tie pin and clutch closure for ease of use - no fiddly brooch backs. We recommend wearing on thick fabric, such as a woolly jumper or your favourite coat.

Please note: due to the nature of the marbled materials used, colours may vary slightly from those pictured. This makes each piece completely unique!

Handmade in Scotland as part of the Sappho’s Garden collection, inspired by the fruits and flowers that Sappho describes in her poetry.

In Ancient Greece, apples were associated with Aphrodite and seen as symbols of love. Sappho uses a red sweet-apple (τὸ γλυκύμαλον) as a metaphor for the inaccessibility of beauty in fragment 105a.
