Apple garland statement earrings

£78.00

Bright, shiny red apple statement earrings that look good enough to eat!

Red marbled acrylic with gold and green mirrored acrylic and hand-painted details. One wreath is engraved with an extract from Sappho’s fragment 105a, and its pair is engraved with my English translation.

Please note: due to the nature of the marbled materials used, colours may vary slightly from those pictured. This makes each piece completely unique!

Handmade in Scotland as part of the Sappho’s Garden collection, inspired by the fruits and flowers that Sappho describes in her poetry.

In Ancient Greece, apples were associated with Aphrodite and seen as symbols of love. Sappho uses a red sweet-apple (τὸ γλυκύμαλον) as a metaphor for the inaccessibility of beauty in fragment 105a.
